History

Healthcare for the people of Weybridge was originally served by a number of general practitioners working singly or in small partnerships, often operating from the doctor's own home. In the early 70s, the local health authority unveiled plans to house these doctors in a new Health Centre adjacent to the existing "cottage" hospital in the centre of Weybridge. The hospital had been opened in 1928 and the first health centre opened in 1974. Over the years the numerous small practices have merged into the two large practices that look after the needs of the local population today. By the mid 1990s the demands of the Health Centre could not be contained within the existing buildings, which were also suffering from structural problems. Plans were drawn up for a new building combining the community hospital and a primary healthcare centre.

Construction of the building started in September 1998 and it opened its doors to the public on 26th July 1999 with the official opening being carried out by HRH The Princess Royal the following Spring. The centre provides all the NHS primary and community health services under one roof. In addition patients have access to x-ray and physiotherapy services previously provided in the hospital. Hospital consultants also visit us to hold their outpatient clinics. The Walk-in Centre provides a nurse-led service for dealing with minor injuries and illnesses.
